It is urgent that we take action to protect our precious freshwater resources. As Guyana looks to its future in a changing climate, we need to get together in this fight to for our natural environment and our own livelihoods.
It is time for our government and business leaders adopt an approach in their planning and development that places greater importance on building with nature. It then means that to secure the future of our freshwater resources we must take into consideration how our development and land-use activities will affect the flow, availability and quality if our freshwater systems.
Together we can push for a firm commitment towards the full adoption of a building with nature approach to development from government, private sector, and communities/civil society, to allow for the continued flow of water in the Rupununi Region.
